25 Beautiful Pictures Of Birds Ready To Take Off Or Fly

Birds fly and this is something that will never fail to fascinate us and that could be because though human beings can do a lot of things, they cannot take wing and fly off. Yes, we know that technology today has enabled air travel and there are activities like para gliding that gives us the illusion of being able to fly but that is not quite the same as actually flying, which most birds do. That is why when you look at a bird that is that is ready to take off, it never fails to tug at your heart and touch a core of longing somewhere deep within.

Here are some word pictures of how birds look when they are getting ready to take off or fly:

Fluffing and Preening

Some birds seem to have a particular rigmarole before they take off. Which could consist of some fluffing of their feathers, looking around and preening in front of others. Once they are done with the warm up, they will simply spread their wings and take off into the sky. More often than not, you will find that birds will simply fly for the heck of it and only sometimes will they fly with an objective in mind. Of course, this depends on the species of the bird and the way they forage for food.

Hop, Jump and Fly

While some birds love to do their preparation and preening before taking off into the blue skies, others will be act like airplanes taking off. Which is to say have a little warm up by hopping around and jumping around. When you come across a bird doing this, you will wonder if the bird itself doubts its ability to fly. Maybe or maybe not; who knows what a bird is thinking when it does things like that.

Hesitant and Still Learning

Some birds are obviously fledglings that are still being coached by mama bird and papa bird on the nuances of taking off. Sometimes the baby birds will need to be literally pushed off the nest in order to get them to fly. It is called tough love in the birdy sense and in many instances it really works as birds like us don’t want to leave the warmth and safety of their nests. However, even when they have proven to themselves that they can fly, they will still hesitate before doing this.

Swoop as If Born To It

There are some birds in the bird kingdom too who stand out due to the power that is obvious in their wings and the confidence that seems to be built into their very being. These birds will fly with a powerful swoop that will have us craning our necks to watch; eagles stand out as an example in this. You can watch the flight of an eagle in total fascination as it simply spreads the wings and flies with seemingly nary a movement in the wings. It is really awe-inspiring.

Fall and Take Off

Like the world of human beings, birds too have their pranksters and this is the category we are talking about here. These are birds that will make it look as if they are falling from a great height like tall building or tree and then just as they are about to hit the ground or some object, they will simply take off. While scary to watch, these kinds of flights are nevertheless fascinating.
