Corn Snakes: The scientific name of this species is Pantherophis Guttatus and also known as red rat snakes. They can be your very good pet. Corn snakes are non-venomous or colubrid in nature which is very suitable for your family and friends.

It is a very colourful snake and comes in different variety of colours and patterns. South eastern and central United States are their native places. They can be mainly found in Agricultural fields, woodlands, pinelands and barnyards. You can feed them with rodents.

They hardly live for maximum 20 years. And their maximum size can go up to 6 feet with an average of 4 feet. This makes them little smaller than other pet snakes which is very easy to handle. You hardly need an aquarium of 20 gallons for an adult corn snake. So you can go easily with this snake if you are a beginner.

California King Snake: Trinomialy known as Lampropeltis getula californiae. These snakes are very hardy and colubrid in nature. They can be mainly found in western United States and northern Mexico. In spite of being very colourful and of attractive pattern this snake tattoo look very beautiful.

They grow about 3.5-4.5 feet long and lives on an average of 15 years. They need a slight big space to live than corn snakes. Being very secretive in nature, most of the time they hide themselves on safe places. You can feed them with insects, amphibians, small birds, small reptiles and of course small mammals.

Variable King Snake: Also known as Lampropeltis Mexicana. Normally they are spotted in Mexico, ranging in Coahuila, Durango, Guanajuato, Nuevo Leon, San Lui Potosi, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas. They generally grow about 2-3 feet long with tri- colour most of the time. They can live comparatively in small space than above ones. An aquarium of 15 gallons is enough for them. The average lifespan is more or less like the California king snake for about 15 years.

Honduran Milk Snake: A bright coloured snake, generally red all over the body with Black or yellow stripes. They are one of the favoured pet snakes. Normally grows very large for about 5 feet. Scientifically known as Lampropeltis triangulum hondurensis. Honduras, Low elevation points of Nicaragua, north eastern Costa Rica are their main native places. Their lifespan is also slightly larger than the above snakes. Their diet consists of other snakes, birds, eggs, lizards, and rodents etc. They are non-venomous and very docile in nature. Because of their large size, precious and attractive look they impress human beings.

Common Garter Snake: It is a North American snake found widely across the continent. Most of them have patterns of yellow stripes with brown or green background all over their body. Average body mass of these snakes are about 150 grams. Garter snakes are classified into 13 sub species. They generally grow up to 137 centimetres. The saliva of garter snakes is sometimes toxic to small mammals and amphibians. But it doesn’t affect much to humans, though it can cause itching, burning or swelling. They secrete a fluid from post anal glands when handle or harmed. They feed themselves with amphibians, earthworms, small fishes, small birds and rodents. It takes some time to make them docile in nature. But still they are very gentle.

Brown House Snake: They are often known as African house snake with a high gained popularity in pet trade. They are spotted throughout sub Saharan regions of Africa. They are very adaptable and mainly found in scrubland, woodland, savannah and mountainous regions. Human wastes and rodent are their preferred diets. They generally don’t bite but sometimes can be quite aggressive as their temperament varies. They can be kept in a 10-12 gallon aquarium.
