When you observe an animal you will stuck by the things that it does. Some amusing, some really familiar and some really strange. It is this strange behavior that animals indulge in that has given birth some weird myths about animals. Here are some that we clarify:
- An Ostrich buries its head in the sand: This is more like an optical illusion than the truth as due to its huge height and small head, when they bend to the ground to pick something it seems like they are burying their head.
- Opossums hanging by tail: Actually opossums are known to grip the branches of the trees they are climbing on with their tails which makes it seem like they are hanging
- Touch a toad or frog and get warts: While a frog or a toad seems to have wart like protrusions on their skin these do not spread on touching.
- Fledgling birds will be rejected by their mothers if a human touches them: It is not true as birds do not have that high a sense of smell to be able to detect a human touch on their chick.
