We all know that rainforests are the home to millions of animals and plant species. Amazingly these animals and plant species are not found anywhere else in the world. Rainforest all over the world covers only 7 % of the total land of the earth which is a great area. This percentage of land in the earth is the home to 50% of the known animal species around the world. Most of these rainforests are located in the Latin America, Africa and Asia. Normally the rainforest receive an annual rainfall of about 100 inches which provides these rainforest animals’ food and shelter for the whole year.
Rainforest regions also have a great climate for vegetation. Tress grow very well in these regions and in some areas you will see that the trees up to 200ft tall. The climates in these regions are great for vegetation to thrive. The tall trees are great to form canopy high above the ground. Rainforests are always full of greens and you will hardly see any color there. All over the year it is full of green plants. People say that everything in rainforests are blooming and grooming. You will find large bunch of trees all around you and you will be almost covered by green all around when you enter a rainforest.
Beautiful Pictures of Animals in the Rainforest
Even if you look at them side by side, it would still be extremely difficult to differentiate a jaguar from a leopard.
One thing that will help you determine that is that jaguars are often larger than leopards.
Jaguars weigh anywhere from 36 to 158 kilograms, while leopards can weigh anywhere between 17 and 90 kilograms.
Another key difference is the print on their bodies. Leopards don’t have spots inside their rosettes or black circles.
Orangutans spend a huge part of their lives swinging through trees. This is mostly to find food and other orangutans for mating.
They can easily do this because of how strong and long their arms are.
Despite a height of only 1.5 meters or approximately five feet, the average arm span of an orangutan is well over seven feet.
This right here is the green tree viper. Its diet consists of frogs, rodents, lizards, and even birds.
However, you still have to be careful around them, as snakes are known to attack humans when threatened.
Vipers aren’t as deadly as other types of snakes. Nonetheless, their bites still contain enough venom to immobilize or even kill a human.
If you get bitten by one, make sure you get treated right away. Most victims of the viper survive the attack.
Contrary to popular belief, the black panther is actually not a real species. The name is often associated with either a black leopard or a black jaguar.
The name “panther” is actually an umbrella term (panthera) for a specific genus that consists of various animals like jaguars, leopards, tigers, lions, and even bears.
The picture above is that of a green anaconda.
Despite not holding the title of the longest snake, anacondas can often grow quite large that they are the world’s heaviest snake.
Anacondas don’t have venoms.
To make up for this, they became ambush predators. They often stalk their prey and lie in wait.
At the right time, they strike unexpectedly and wrap their bodies around the prey to suffocate it or crush its body until it dies.
Rainforests are very essential for us because most of the medicines we use now for treating illness and diseases come from these rainforests. The components of these medicines come from the plants which grow in the rainforests. The flowering plants in these regions are full of medicinal qualities and are also used for making effective medicines. But the fact is that rainforests are in great danger now because of massive deforestation. Statistics say that mostly half of the total rainforest in the world has been destroyed already and if this continues, within a very short time rain forest will almost vanish out from the earth. This is not only a danger for us but also a great danger for the animals living here. We humans are the culprit behind this destruction process. Like these innocent animals many human beings also rely on these rainforests but we don’t think about that. The villages near the rainforests burn out forests to get farming lands. In some places, mineral rich rainforests have been removed for mining process. Most of these destroyed areas are now used by the humans for their own purposes.
Despite their fearsome looks, almost resembling a dragon, iguanas are actually herbivores.
Its diet consists mostly of fruits and vegetables. However, they would also eat small insects, snails, or eggs if they get the chance.
One of the most interesting things about iguanas is that they can detach their tails from their bodies.
If a predator successfully grabs its tail, an iguana will lose their tails to escape. If they were able to do so cleanly and between the vertebrae, they can regrow their tails.
We’re sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but chameleons don’t actually change their colors to blend with their surroundings and camouflage themselves.
It’s true that it can change its color. However, the color-changing behavior is based on its mood, the humidity or temperature of the environment, or even the presence or absence of light.
Another interesting fact about this creature is that it can move each eye differently, and each eye has a field vision of 180 degrees.
This means that the chameleon can actually see 360 degrees of its surroundings.
This is called the horned frog. It got its name because of its pointed eyelids that actually resemble horns.
They have quite a huge appetite, and they can sometimes suffocate when trying to eat something bigger than them.
They only have a lifespan of around five to eight years, but they can give birth to around 1,500 eggs at a time!
The bio-diversity level of the rainforest is very high and in most cases it is seen that a single bush of rainforests consists of some thousands of ant species. Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world and it records a huge range of animal presence. Here is we giving an account of the numbers of species those record is found. 5600 Fish Species, 1300 Birds, 430+ Mammals, 1000+ Amphibians, 400+ Reptiles which a great amount. Just a single rainforest in the world consists of so many animal species so now you can assume what the total account of animal species in the rainforests around the world will be. This large amount of animal presence makes out a mysterious environment all over.
Are you up for cuddles? You should probably stay away from lynxes if you are.
They may not be the fastest land animal on the planet, but they are one of the best hunters in the game.
Lynxes like to stalk they prey instead of running after them.
Once the prey is relaxed, the lynx will then ambush it. It doesn’t matter what animal it is as long as the lynx believes it can take it down.
Lynxes are also known to be able to jump six feet up in the air, which means it can easily catch a bird a couple of seconds after it tries to take flight.
Rainforests are now really in dangerous situation and so the animals leaving in these rainforests. It is our duty to protect this nature’s creation just for the good sake of us. If one day all the forests all over the world will be destroyed how we can live and slowly all the animals in this world will lose its existence which is very unfortunate for the whole planet as well. Protect the wildlife as well as protect the nature from any harm.
