The truth is that any animal when young looks so adorable not only due to its small stature but also due to the fact that it somehow manages to look both fuzzier and more vulnerable. Just think, if the image of an animal when young makes you go all soft and gooey, then what it must do to its’ own parents? Animal kingdom does boast of a lot of really caring and sacrificing mothers who do a lot for their young. They not only feed them and keep them alive and protected against predators, they also carry them around.

The sight of an animal carrying its baby around is something that will touch your heart and appeal to the deep rooted affection we all have for maternal sights. While many animals have a gentle and cute way of carrying their babies like kangaroos, primates and some other marsupials, the sight of some animals like tigers, lions etc carrying their babies by holding the scruff of their necks in the mouth can almost make you fear that they may end up hurting them.

Most animal mothers are required to carry their babies around not only for practical considerations like moving them from one place to another or as a means of teaching them to learn to hunt or fly or some such skill, but also sometimes as a means of disciplining them. Yes, even animal babies can get into a lot of trouble and do things that displease their parents. You can see a very good example in herds of elephants, where the matriarchs cart around the elephant calves when they get out of hand. They place them in the center of the circle where they are then disciplined with a swat or two.

Many bird species will drag their babies or carry them to the edge of the nests and even push them to teach them how to fly. With some animal species the art of carrying their babies around comes naturally and looks really adorable and with others it can look a tad terrifying. The thing you have to remember is that like us humans the maternal instinct is very strong in certain species and with some species it needs to worked on and developed. This can be seen in the pictures of animals carrying their babies. Some look sweet and cute whereas others can look a little more harsh and wild.
